How a Three-Month-Old Plays

Mom came home last night with a surprise for me -- Ms. Melissa came for a visit! She didn't have Hannah or Kayla with her either so I had her all to myself.


It was great. She checked my nails and F-A-T.

We cuddled and 'nuggled.

We reminisced about my show days.

Good times.
Good times.

On a side note, mom has requested that I give another Birthday Shout-out to Ms. Kristin. She used to work with mom and though I have never met her I was told she's the best. So let's all give her a Hey--Ooh! Whoop, whoop!

Double Birthday Wishes

Both my cousins Matthew (1) and Christine (24) are another year older today!

Matthew celebrated with spaghetti and cake, and Christine went to the far east for Sushi!

So let's hear it for the Birthday Duo!

Run Over!

I almost forgot to tell you: on the walk yesterday morning, Ms. Jane ran over me with her bike.









Well, maybe I am exaggerating, and of course it didn't hurt me at all, but I would like to point out that soon it will be Bike Month in New York City and I think Ms. Jane needs to take some sort of classes.

Kash Attack!

Last night, my newest Vizsla buddy, Kash, came over to our apartment for a play date. I was so happy to see him and finally get to meet the little guy.



I could tell he was excited too because he was all wound-up and spinning like a top. Dashing to and fro, around and around. I was getting dizzy, but we finally settled into some serious wrestling.


















































































I also showed him around the apartment, telling him all about my house, my water bucket and my toys.




He especially liked chewing on the Nasty Knuckle and my cow hoof. Glenn thought it would be a good idea to give him a bully stick, too.




Eventually we made it outside and to Riverside park. That's when I taught him all about chewing on sticks, running through the dirtiest piles of leaves and playing tag.

Once he almost fell into a sink hole! I didn't teach him to do that, though.

VTUs

VTUs are Vizsla Thermal Units, and I produce a lot of them.




A VTU is defined as the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one vizsla pup by one degree. Normally, I like to build up a lot of VTUs under the covers, then once I reach my optimal core temperature, flop on top of the covers, trapping all of that heat, sealing mom in for a slow bake.

This works just fine in the winter, but now that the weather is getting so beautiful and warm (80 degrees today in the city!), she's been complaining.

I guess she doesn't need her feet warmed as much in the summer time as the winter!

Earth Day

Today is one of Glenn's "high holy" days: Earth Day. It's when we celebrate the Earth and ponder how we are going to make it better. Lots of organizations get on board -- even those on the internet -- encouraging everyone to consider how we are impacting the environment and what kind of "foot print" (or paw print in my case) we're leaving. There is even a foot print calculator that we can use to see our effects.

When mom and I went on that calculator we figured out that our foot print was and here are my results for a 40lb Vizsla:



Two and a half planets! That's scary. Perhaps they didn't relize I'm a dog? I think what really got me is that I eat meat every meal and that it's processed, packaged and shipped to me... I think I'll ask mom to start making all my meals for me instead. And I'll even tell her not to bother cooking it. I'll just eat it raw and that will save on natural gas.

Staten Izzy

Tomorrow, Glenn's parents, Ms. Susan and Mr. George, are renewing their vows.

I honestly can't believe they almost let them expire! I wonder if they would have had to pay a fine like mom did when she let her car's inspection sticker expire.

Perhaps this is where the ceremony will take place?? Consuming Fire?? Rut-row! It doesn't look all that welcoming to me.

While mom and Glenn are at work, I take over the couch and the remote control!

Over Run!

I think the city is virtually over run with Vizslas! Ha! We are truly taking over. Let me see if I got them all right...

In Riverside Park there's myself, penny, lucky, colby, kimmie, taxi and daisy.

In Central Park, we have madison, ripley, hudson, yogi, tallulah 1, tallulah 2, ruby, echo, sash, crosby, millie and gracie.

And even with all of these Vizslas, the Big Apple certainly has room for more.

Rainy Sunday Means Puppy Play Date!

Mom wasn't foolin' yesterday. I did get to meet up with Laika for a play date today. It was awesome!

At first, I was a bit confused and angry at mom because she was making walk in the rain, even though I had already been outside for my normal morning run. I mean give a girl a break, I just wanted 'nuggle down in the covers, but noooo-ooo mom had to force me off the couch.

Once we rounded the corner to Laika's apartment building, I realized where we were going and made a bee-line for the door. Sure, maybe that was because I was drenched head to paw, but I was ALSO excited to see my best bud.

Once I got inside, it was play, play, play, so much so that I didn't even see mom leave!

Street Fair Full of Desire

As if our morning's long walk wasn't enough, mom and Glenn woke me up from my afternoon snoozer and took me to the year's first street fair.

I was very glad to have gone because the sights and smells of all of that food was just wonderful.

And we saw Ms. Jane! She and Mom discussed something about a Sunday play date with Laika, so I am super excited.

Pretty As A Picture

The weather today is just magnificent. I asked mom to take a photo of the trees just beginning to bloom, all pink and neon green with flowers and baby leaves.

Urban Mutt the Explorer

Mom, Glenn and I explored our new neighborhood this morning.

Thinking you might like to see more, we also filmed Glenn discussing the buiding, and some area features. Sometimes he knew he was being filmed. Sometimes he didn't.

Rainy Thursday

When it gets all drippy outside, I like to contemplate my life.







I think I have it pretty good, sitting all snug and warm on my couch with my Shawn and my green blankie.







I just wish mom could 'nuggle all day with me.

This morning the whole gang was in the park.


Laika had been away on vacation for the past week and a half, so she and I really had a lot of catching up to do. Ellie also came -- and she had a new hair cut. It was such great fun and we got quite a work-out.

Boiled Rice & Chicken to Settle My Tummy

Mom gave me the best treat on Saturday -- boiled rice and chicken!

My tummy was not feeling well on Friday; I threw up all the grass I had been eating in the park that morning! So she didn't feed me anything on Friday, but totally made up for it Saturday.

It was awesome.

Right off the stove, all that mushy, warm goodness made my tummy stop rumblin'.

Mom enjoyed watching me scarf down my breakfast. She thought it was so dear when I came up for air and had rice all over my face and nose. I just couldn't slow down to eat like the lady I am!

Bunny Breakfast

I wuff this time of year. Spring brings sunshine, new grass, and tons of bunnies.

My cousins Caroline and Matthew went to a "bunny breakfast" last weekend to celebrate Spring and the Easter holiday.

I wonder how those Bunnies tasted? I bet they were real good. Since I'll be at Mutti and Poppa-dino's this weekend, think I am going to ask to have Bunny for breakfast, too.

My New Home?

After a lot of searching, mom and Glenn (with the help of Mr. Brad, Realtor) might have just found us a new home!

Mom says it's right on Central Park West (that we can simply cross the street and go to the park), it has a real kitchen, six windows, a "normal" bathroom, and plenty of closet space. Mom was too excited to take very many photos but here is an exterior shot.

My only question is: if we now live near Central Park, isn't that going to take a really long time to get to Riverside Park in the mornings? It's about three and a half avenues. I can't not see Laika every day. I wonder if mom has really thought about that yet??

Moving!

Mom and Glenn told me last night that we have outgrown our 300 sq. foot studio and have to move. Can you believe that? I don't take up very much room. I know Ms. Deb thinks I am F-A-T, but I can't have gained that much to make mom and Glenn want to move.

So when Mom and Glenn sat me down, I was simply surprised. Are we moving out of the Big Apple? What about Laika? What about my other buddies in Riverside Park? How will I make new friends?

Mom assured me that, no, we aren't moving out of New York City, or even the Upper West Side. We simply are going into what she called a "one bedroom."

I can tell Glenn is very excited about this, as well, because he said he'll be able to store his bike in a "bike room." Right now it's sitting in our apartment, too (in the entryway), and mom and Glenn are always tripping over it.

Mom also said that we are going to be moving closer to either Riverside or Central Park. I think I will really like that!

When they went out with Mr. Brad, the Realtor, they saw a ton of apartments. Some were big, some were small. Some were located right on the park, others a block or two in from the park.

They even saw one with a laundry room sign: "keep door closed: RATS!" That sounds like fun.

This apartment is in No. 9 W 73rd. That is the fifth brownstone in from Central Park.














In NYC, the size of the living room is inversely proportionate to the size of the kitchen, it would seem...
