Lighthouse Counting

On our Maine vacation, I saw my very first lighthouse. Lighthouses are the really tall lamps that twirl around and say "rocky-shore! rocky-shore!" to the ships that sail near. Sometimes people live there, but sometimes the lights are out in the harbor and just twirl on their own.

Mom says they are on day and night, and since Maine has so many harbors and rocks, they have a lot of lighthouses. We visited the Twin Lighthouses in Cape Elizabeth, the Portland Head Light, the Bass Harbor Head Light, and Cuckold's Light near Boothbay Harbor.

While we were at the Twin Lighthouses mom let me play in the water.

With a temperature of 45 degrees, it was quite refreshing! Mom and Glenn only managed to dip their toes, but I practiced putting my whole face in the water.
