Jade's Surgery

My friend Jade just had surgery and it went really well! She had been experiencing swelling on the side of her throat at odd times over the past couple years and finally went under the knife to figure-out her deal. The vet found a few little tiny pieces (the largest is about a third the size of a grain of rice) of what looks to be wood at the end of a scar tissue channel going down the middle of the lump area. The vet's confident that it was a foreign body case like Jade's mom and dad were hoping and just removed minimal tissue in the area and flushed it really well, to avoid messing with any nerves.
She was her normal self from the get-go, although tired that night from the anesthesia, and all her facial parts are operating, as they should. Yay! She and I will be frolicking on the beach together in no time!! Great news!
Here's what Jade's mom, Stacey, had to say:
"The incision's actually not bad at all, maybe two inches long. She prematurely removed her drain last night as we slept, but the vet said to just keep it clean and open for a couple days and it should be fine. I can't wait until it starts to itch and she wants to really go at it with her deadly hind claws! Right now we have the couch draped with blankets, sheets and towels to absorb any precious bodily fluids that seep from her wound. She gave a good head shake when she got back on Tuesday, when it was still draining a fair amount--we could have done CSI analysis of the splatter pattern on the rug! I hope we're never murder suspects because that black light would reveal some horrors around this house!"
